The Queen City Rainbow Band is a Greater Cincinnati-based gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender and allied organization created to promote unity, generate pride and provide education through music and visual performance.
We rehearse on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm at Grace Episcopal Church (directions below). During marching season, we rehearse outdoors at Burnett Woods (in Clifton). Check our calendar for specifics or email to ask any questions.
We tend to break during the end of July and August.
Our band is under the music direction of Andy Garitson. Andy is well-known in the Cincinnati area for his contribution to pit orchestras and community bands. He has a passion for music and believes in the mission and the goals the QCRB stands for. Andy stepped into the Music Director role in the Spring of 2011.
Our members range in age and musical ability. We embrace our member’s diversity of all kinds.
We charge $40 per year for membership. Checks are payable to QCRB or you may charge on our web site sidebar. If this is a burden to pay, let our treasurer know, and we will arrange for another option for you. Membership dues pay a small portion of our operating expences, which include monthly rent, insurance, music, flags/banners, marketing, instrument repair, uniforms, and more.
The marching band uniform is a QCRB-provided shirt (provided with your first-time dues). Depending upon the performance, we wear either black or khaki shorts or pants with it. Let us know if you have a favorite color, the shirt’s accent color is either yellow, orange, red, purple, blue and green. Color availability varies.
Our member’s age needs to be 21+. Special allowances may be made for those younger on a case-by-case basis.
We distribute information to our members with a special QCRB mass email list. This email is used exclusively for band member information and announcements. To be added or removed to this list, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
